SER-CAT Remote User Introduction
Welcome to the SER-CAT remote
access program. This program is a culmination of a number of years of work
towards providing a reliable mechanical and software environment for you to be
able to collect your data from the comfort of your home institutions – in
effect supplying you with your own virtual home synchrotron. The remainder of
this guide will address any user needs that are unique to a remote user. The system has been
designed to present an identical working environment for both local and remote
users, so once you have access to one of the beamline control computers; the beamline user guide should be referenced
on how to use the beamline.
Your experience with the
remote program will be strongly influenced by the effort you put into your
sample preparation as well as the training of your staff. While the operations
team strives to make the on-line documentation as comprehensive as possible,
nothing beats a well trained and prepared operator. Please do not place
untrained people behind our steering wheel unsupervised!
