NX Font Problems

The windows NX client comes with a limited set of fonts, which may not be adequate for older programs. The X windows interface that is part of NX will attempt to use a suitable font, but programs like MOSfilm that require specific fonts can have problems.

SER-CAT provides a zip file of the fonts available on a typical linux system. This has the complete set of fonts and encodings, which may be less than ideal, as NX will also use the local TrueType fonts, if they are compatable, which usually render better.

To use this zip file, copy the contents to \Program Files\NX Client for Windows\share\fonts\. Usually, only a subset of the contents are required, specifically the Type1 directory and the encodings directory. The util directory has maps for encodings, as well, so it may be required, depending on the program in question.
