Policy for Scheduling Mail-in Crystallography Beam Time
The mail-in program is still under development, and the amount of time that each institution receives is not being catalogued. What is being catalogued is whether a member has had access to the program and how many data sets have been collected. Beam time will be allocated in a preferential manner to those members that have not previously participated. This policy is subject to change once the program has been fully commissioned.
A letter will be sent out before the beginning of each run to every member user that has expressed interest in the program. The available mail-in beam time will be defined, and users will be asked if they want to reserve one of the slots. The initial request should be accompanied by a Mail-In Request Form so that the staff can determine the viability of the requested experiment. The user will be notified if they have been assigned one of the mail-in slots. If the user is not assigned one of the scheduled slots, they will be asked if they would like to be added to the standby list.
After you have received notice from SER-CAT of your scheduled Mail-In Slot, prepare your dewar for shipping. Plan for it to arrive at SER-CAT two days before data collection. That gives us time to find it when FedEx loses it. Address the Airbill as follows:
